Balraj Singh Pannu

Born at General Hospital KL in 1977. Entered VI from Batu Road School (entering VI was highly controversial as father is ex-RMC).
At VI did to many things in various years and positions – state cricket, school hockey, cadet corps, debate team – Best Debater at Star Debate 1994. All this culminated in the appointment to the Prefect Board in Form 5 – made every management mistake possible. Will probably have to apologise to batch mates for rest of life!
NB: A memorable saying from the prefects room: “He who does not obey has no right to command”.
A-levels at ATC College of Law, KL. Then BA in Jurisprudence at Keble College, Oxford University, England 1997-2000.
“The key thing this course taught me was …:
(1) law only gets fun after you do a lot of painful work.
(2) that you must think for yourself: even the best decisions (be it House of Lords, Parliament, corporate giants or social movements) are not always correct. Even if there are correct, they may not be correct for all situations and all times.
First paying job – cheap labour at family office (a manufacturing SME), and waiter for wedding caterers. First serious job – lawyer at Slaughter and May, a magic circle London law firm at their London and Hong Kong offices.
Current non-work activities – studying for Level 2 of the Chartered Financial Analyst program. Kundalini Yoga teacher.
Future goals : I wish to be …" as organized and energetic as Sean Oon (fellow VIOBA committee member!)
Would like to meet Victorians who ... are interested in private equity, business angel programmes, charity work.
