Hi everyone, here we are once again at the tail end of another year!
I do hope the year has been kind to all of you and if not, I sincerely wish you will have better fortunes in the new year. There are always ups and downs in life, what matters is how we face them and make the best of what life has thrown us.
We at VIOBA have had a relatively good year; there was very good news in the beginning of the year, we have our official school name reverted to the “Victoria Institution” once more, thanks to the good work of the Board of Governors and its predecessors. In August we had a wonderful annual dinner event, graced by the Honourable General Prabowo Subianto who gave one of the more eloquent dinner speeches I have heard for some time. Awards were presented to eminent Victorians for their services to the Nation, I only wish we could have named more Victorians who have done the nation proud.
The VIOBA rugby team made a great name for themselves this year by becoming Champions in the National Alumni Rugby League. What is more remarkable is that the team managed by old boys got this far by raising the own funds and working hard towards a shared objective. For this I congratulate the VIRC, the team management, players, sponsors and supporters. I do hope many more will come forward to support our sporting activities.
There will be a few exciting events in the new year, the most eagerly anticipated includes the Mokhtar Dahari Challenge in March 11, the VI Premier 10s on April 1 and 2, the Cross Country on May 7. The Annual General Meeting which will see elections of office bearers is on May 21, 2017.
VIOBA also welcomes the new Pengetua for VI, Tuan Kamarul Azman Bin Md Arif. I have met him and have pledged that VIOBA will work with him and the school administration to enhance the school.
Lastly we wish all of you a very Happy New Year, a very Merry Christmas, safe travels and may all your wishes be granted!
Best wishes,
KC Kwek – President
